If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Vienna, a visit to Kleines Wiener Cafe is an absolute must. Nestled at Kochgasse 18, this hidden gem offers an inviting atmosphere that beckons both locals and travelers alike to slow down and indulge in a moment of relaxation.
The cafe's ambiance is a delightful mix of coziness and warmth. With comfortable seating and a relaxing interior, it's the perfect pitstop to enjoy a great cup of coffee or a scrumptious slice of homemade cake. Customers rave about the self-roasted coffee, which is not just a drink but a work of art, expertly crafted by the friendly and attentive staff. And if you're a fan of baked goods, their selection of fresh, homemade cakes is simply irresistible, making it an ideal spot for a sweet treat.
As described by visitors, Kleines Wiener Cafe stands out not only for its exceptional coffee but also for a staff that exudes kindness—an endearing contrast to the stereotype of grumpy Viennese waiters. You can expect to be greeted with genuine smiles and accommodating service, creating a comforting space to unwind. Roman Leuchter perfectly captures this sentiment: "Amazing specialty cafe, very cozy, extremely comfortable atmosphere."
If you're an early riser, plan to indulge in one of their delicious cooked breakfasts starting at 10 AM—a suggestion from Gerrard Young that promises a delightful way to kick off your day. And for those who prefer a leisurely morning, don’t hesitate to sleep in; the café's tranquil interior and lovely courtyard seating will make your visit all the more enjoyable when you decide to venture out. In fact, Julian Körner recommends skipping the bustling Cafe Central and experiencing better coffee in a more pleasant atmosphere here.
Several patrons have illustrated the magic of spending time in the café's inviting courtyard. It’s a serene haven that feels worlds apart from the usual busy cafes, offering a unique experience that you’ll treasure. Whether you’re looking for a quiet moment alone, catching up with friends, or enjoying quality time with family—JC A mentions that they even have games and toys available—it’s a versatile space that caters to all.
In a city known for its coffee culture, Kleines Wiener Cafe shines as an exceptional spot to take a break and savor the beauty of Vienna through your cup. Great coffee, delightful cakes, and an ambiance that feels like a comforting embrace—this cafe will surely leave a lasting impression, prompting you to return time and again. As Michelle Sinden reflects, you might just wish it was your local, too!
So, whether you’re a resident of Vienna or just passing through, make sure to bookmark Kleines Wiener Cafe on your list. It's more than just a café; it's an experience that promises to enrich your visit to this wonderful city.

This is cafe is a wonderful pitstop. Don't fret if you didn't get a spot at cafe central,Tobias and Helene will serve you better coffee in a nice ambience. If you are looking for grumpy Viennese waiters, you are wrong here. The staff, self roasted coffee and self-made cakes are to die for. The courtyard is cute and cozy and if you visit in winter be sure to make a reservation. It is well worth it.

Whether you live close by or are just passing through, this is *the* place to be for your coffee fix. They roast their own beans and bake their own cakes. Quality, machine, technique, service and prices, everything is on point. The cherry on top is their hidden, tranquil seating area inside an old, super well preserved romantic “Innenhof” that you would normally only get to see on guided tours or overpriced cafes or restaurants in the nearby districts.
